To: Each Branch Secretary – Attention All Members
Date: 30th March 2015
News Update: 005/15
Dear Colleagues
Please bring this News Update to the attention of all members.
- RESTORATION! Campaign
Work on the Union’s RESTORATION! Campaign is progressing. Stickers have been printed and are being circulated to Branches, the new RESTORATION! Website is in the final stages of assembly as is the RESTORATION! Facebook page. A number of members who have volunteered to do short video clips for the campaign are being completed and we have sought additional volunteers to come forward through the Branches across the country. A comprehensive document setting out our case for a Flat Rate Increase rather than a percentage based restoration of take home pay is near completion and will be circulated to Branches and placed on the website. We also will use the document to lobby all political parties in the next few weeks. Lobbying leaflets are also in production.
Meanwhile the Public Services Committee of the ICTU meets on Monday March 30th to discuss a co-ordinated claim on Government as the employer and we will seek agreement on the flat rate increase approach placing a restoration priority on earnings of €35,000 in line with Croke Park and Haddington Road.
Branch members interested in doing media interviews or video clips for the campaign and/or assisting in a leafleting campaign and local lobbying of TDs should e-mail your contact details to Restoration@cpsu.ie.
- Decency For Dunne’s Stores Workers
The CPSU is fully supporting the one day strike at Dunne’s Stores being organised by MANDATE and SIPTU for next THURSDAY April 2nd. All members are urged not to shop or cross the picket lines at Dunne’s Stores and where possible to join with the pickets for a time to show solidarity between our members and private sector workers whose Unions are effectively barred from representing their members and whose members are forced to work on minimum hours contracts with no job security etc. The CPSU believes it is vital lower paid Public and Private Sector workers support each other and not let right wing conservative forces drive a wedge between them. RESPECT the Pickets on Thursday – Support the Dunne’s Workers!
- ADC Preliminary Agenda.
The Preliminary Agenda for this year’s ADC in Killarney was circulated via the web and e-mail on Friday 27th March. Printed copies are also on the way to the Branches. Please ensure your Branch meets to consider amendments etc., in time to send them back to the General Secretary before Friday 10th April next.
